BenchSlate privacy and data deletion

Who we are
BenchSlate is made by BenchSlate Inc. in Canada. Contact: info@benchslate.app.
What we collect
- Your email address, only if you sign in, to send you a sign-in code and to know which account is yours. If you sign in with Google, we also receive your name and profile picture link from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
- Technical sign-in records: when you sign in, our hosting provider records technical details such as the time, your IP address and your device or browser type, for security and troubleshooting. We do not use them for anything else.
- Your tryout data, only if you turn on online sync in the app: the tryouts, rubrics, players, scores and notes you enter or import. Players are often children. This can include names, birth dates, tryout numbers, registration numbers, and parent or guardian names, emails and phone numbers, exactly as you entered or imported them. We collect nothing you do not type or import.
- We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, advertising identifiers or any analytics about how you use the app.
Unless you turn on online sync in the app, no tryout data is sent anywhere, even if you are signed in. You can turn it off, and delete the online copy, at any time.
Why we use it
Only to run BenchSlate for you: signing you in, and keeping your tryouts safe and the same on your own phones. We do not sell it, rent it, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone for their own purposes.
Where it is kept and who helps us
Account and tryout data is stored with Supabase, in a data centre in Canada. Supabase acts only on our instructions. Sign-in emails are sent through the email service our Supabase project uses. If you choose Google sign-in, Google handles that part under its own privacy policy.
Each coach can see only their own data. This is enforced by the database itself, not only by the app.
Your responsibility for players’ information
If you enter or import information about other people, especially children, you are responsible for having the right to do so, for example from your association’s registration. Collect and keep only what you need for the tryout.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it. Deleting your account removes your email address, name and everything stored online for it from our database. Technical sign-in records and backups kept by our hosting provider are removed on its own schedule.
Delete your account and data
- In BenchSlate, tap Options on the Tryouts screen, then Account.
- Tap Delete my account and data and confirm.
To delete only the online copy of your tryouts and keep your account, tap Delete the online copy in the same place.
This deletes your account and everything stored online. Copies already on your phone, and any backup files you saved yourself, stay with you; delete them from your phone as you like. If you can’t use the app, email info@benchslate.app from the address you signed in with and we will delete the account within 30 days.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) you can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, and to withdraw consent. Email info@benchslate.app. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes
If this changes in a way that matters, we will update the date above.
